App Name: Touch4: FS5 (Free)

Another Connect 4 game hits the App Store (I’m sure you’re all familiar with this Milton Bradley classic), but FlipSide5 have gone to the trouble to try and make it as authentic as possible. The graphics are all wonderfully rendered in buttery plastic, and the familiar plastic “clink” of the chips dropping should bring back some memories. There’s even a slider at the bottom to empty the pieces when you start a game over — but if you’re feeling giddy, you can turn the device over and watch the chips fall out the top, too.
But FS5 have gone and added multiplayer capabilities over local WiFi or remote WiFi/3G/EDGE, so you can challenge real humans, see what…

App Name: Tic-Tac-Touch: FS5 (Free)

Aaand then there’s yet another Tic-Tac-Toe game. FlipSide5 seem to have had the itch to create what they hoped would be the best Tic-Tac-Toe game in the App Store. Perhaps they’ve succeeded, perhaps not — really, it’s Tic-Tac-Toe.
Nevertheless, to that end, they’ve incorporated some nice-looking graphics, multiplayer over local WiFi network, score tracking for up to 10 players, undo, hints, inline help, and a view last move feature. Somehow, they’ve managed to turn Tic-Tac-Toe into a 3.2MB game.
But it’s still Tic-Tac-Toe.
The free version handles ads the same way Touch Hockey does, though displays ads after 6 minutes rather than 5, and this time there’s a premium version for a buck that foregos the ads altogether.

You want some air hockey? Well, you’re about to get a face full of it whether you like it or not, and you have newcomers FlipSide5 to thank for it.
Don’t worry though, because Touch Hockey is actually good. Very good, in fact — I haven’t had this much fun with virtual air hockey since Shufflepuck Cafe. (To be fair though, I still like Shufflepuck better, for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who has ever played it.)
To look at it, it is very much your standard game of air hockey. Blue paddle against red paddle on the field of air with hockey markings on a perforated board. But this is air hockey — every inch of it. …
