Those fine folks who’ve brought you a pair of very nice Tangram puzzles (which, by the by, are still free, so grab ‘em!) plus a trimmable Christmas tree have come back with another nice freebie, this time in the form of a 3D Christmas snow globe. This seems to be their first 3D app, so I’ll try and give them some latitude on its performance.
The scene it display is quite nice-looking. It’s a small town square surrounded by stores, with a lovely mountainous backdrop. In the foreground, last-minute shoppers are gathered round the square while snow gently falls. In the center of the square, a tall, trimmed, star-topped Christmas…

Looks like Embassy Interactive is getting into the festive mood with a price drop on their two Tangram Puzzles — and when I say “price drop” I mean they dropped it entirely, because for a limited time both great apps are absolutely free. I reviewed Tangram Puzzle Pro: Holiday Edition Lite at the beginning of this month, wherein I pronounced it good. Now you can get all 360 puzzles in the original tangram puzzle, plus more than 70 in the holiday edition absolutely free for a limited time. That, my friends, is a whole lotta tangram love for the price of your time and adoration…

While we’re on the topic of holiday apps, and since I noticed it in their catalog, I might as well include iXmas Tree. It’s essentially a very simplistic interactive christmas tree that you can trim to your liking — or at least to the deree of liking the app allows, anyway. Realism is at a mimimum here, and in generally it resembles one of those “dress up” apps. But it’s a Christmas app, and me, I like Christmas. (Yes, even a cranky misanthrope like me can like Christmas. Don’t be surprised or I’ll say unflattering things about your lineage.)
There are a lot of trimmings to choose from here: Lights, garlands, balls, presents, snowflakes, holly, tree…

Another Tangram puzzle. Not that this is a bad thing. I like tangrams. They’re very casual, very Zen. This one is well designed with some nice graphics and a lovely old-timey Christmas theme. (Yes, I said it: Christmas. I’m not religious in any way, but damnit, it’s Christmas. You offend-no-one-PC nuts can sit ‘n spin.) This lite version features only 6 of the 70 puzzles, so if you want the rest you’ll have to leave a buck under Embassy Interactive’s tree.
