Hey, Eric - sorry to hear about frapstr's demise. :( Loved the site, but glad that you're able to make the hard decision to move on. Never an easy one to make, but I wish you the absolute best of luck in your future endeavors, and look forward to seeing the next big thing.

Cheers!

Thanks all again for the kind words.

I do know development will take loads of my time -- but that was really the point of eliminating Frapstr from my schedule, so that I could spare that time and dedicate it to learning development. I'm quite intimately familiar with the approval process and what a horrendous pain in the arse it can be, believe me; I've talked to loads of developers myself and heard all the horror stories, and even have an app on the App Store myself in AmbiScience: Galactic Chill. (I didn't code it, but I chose the theme and wrote the music, so I got to follow it all through the submission and approval process myself. :D)

But you are correct that it can be very fun and rewarding. I've designed games and apps before so I know that when you finally finish something the feeling you get from it is very rewarding indeed. I'm very much looking forward both to the challenge and seeing my creations finally see the light of day. :)

Thanks for this site. Note that iPhone development will also take loads of your time, specially at the beginning when you are learning things. Also note that the App Store approval process can be painfully slow and frustrating at times. I've submitted an app over 5 weeks ago, and I still haven't had any feedback as to why it's not approved.

Good luck with everything. iPhone development can be fun and rewarding.

Just got the bundle pack 1...clueless about how to make the alarm go off (don't even know what the alarm is supposed to sound like, actually).

Tried many times, nothing occurs.

The 'quit' function timer works.

Ideas ?

Hi, Randy! Good to hear from you, and glad to hear that there will be a new version for this year. I'm going to need some cool new things to deck out my iPhone this holiday season, and I have rather higher expectations than I did last year, given how far we've come with the technology. Good luck on it, and I'll be looking forward to seeing it soon!

I'm the developer of Zen of Snow. Thanks for the (mostly) good review!

The size of the app (about 20 MB) is due to the sound file (which is stored as a WAV file) and because I used Unity 3D as the game-engine. I'll be releasing a new version of this app for the holiday 2009 season and the app size will be considerably smaller... also I'll have neat new features!
