Any company that can poke fun at its complete inability to come up with a company name by naming it after that inability is perfectly cool with me.
The name of this app though is slightly misleading. It isn’t the sort of snow globe you shake and watch snow fly around for a bit before it settles and needs to be shaken again. Instead, it displays a nice little winter scene where it’s constantly snowing.
It’s pretty nice looking and effective, and the snow responds to gravity, so if you tip your iPhone or Touch the snow will shift in that direction.
Technically, it’s a very simple app. It isn’t drawing each snowflake individually. Instead, it’s just 4 images of pre-drawn snow layered with transparency one on top of another, moving in parallax at progressively slower rates for the lower layers. Even so, the effect is nice, soothing, and zen-like. Perfect for the coming season.
